just like paradise

Even if the title could suggest this is about David Lee Roth's hit of the late 80s, it doesn't have much to do with it, other than the positive and powerful energy around both. Last weekend, except for the sunless Sunday, I think we had the most enjoyable weather of the spring, so far.

Friday and specially Sunday were sunny and at the same time the air was fresh enough not to boil or burn like it usually happens when under the down under sun. A picnic on the balcony was going to be unavoidable, and it happened to be sort of an epic one, full of rigorous simplicity.

Perfectly grilled school prawns, fully ripe tomatoes and a little bit of bellota ham with fresh bread made a simply fine lunch. There was no caraway sourdough left on Bourke St, so we had a convincing variation in our bread choice. The wind was coming our way, what made the "homebaked" sounds more obvious than in previous editions.

Now, what is better than a good chardonnay for lunch? Maybe two of them? Well, I thought so, and since I had found in town two Paradise IV, from 2009 and 2010, we were able to have a mini vertical degustation, which gave the whole effort a more digestive character.

The darkest and sweetest side of this paradisiac "tete a tete" came from a really good dark chocolate spiky bon bon from, as you can probably guess by now, the magical Kakawa masters on William St.
