explorers on albion

Kind of lost in Surry Hills we took a small lane, which runs parallel to Albion St, and we saw this garage door open. Clearly it wasn't a garage; we could see a big table and people eating. Since it was close to lunch time, we decided to satisfy our curiosity and Lynne parked a minute away from this unknown eatery.

The interior design of the building was quite exciting. Old and new elements combined were part of a smart and fun solution. The menu was a small one, but with certain personality.

I tried their ceviche (ocean trout, roast corn, smoked sweet potato, chilli, lime and witlof), which felt more like a salad with trout, but still very nice and refreshing. Unfortunately there was no wine or beer on the menu, so I asked for a latte, which around here seems not to be such an abnormal drink for lunch.

One of the options on the menu read "Meats, Cheeses, Pickles - the best today". I don't know if it actually the best, but it looked like a calculated risk that Lynne felt confident about. The presentation was really appealing, and the final outcome I guess was a satisfactory one.

I wouldn't say the food was mind blowing, but considering the whole experience, it's an interesting enough place to revisit in the near future. Apparently they have only been open for six weeks, so I'm sure they will have the chance to add a few improvements to their initial concept.
