The perfect Syd City ritual starts with a nice swim in the Bronte rock pool, ideally right after landing. Without any doubt, the rainbow helps the experience.

Step two happens on Reservoir Street, starting with a good magic and concluding with a cold drip; in between there is a number of seducing options, which Charles can help discerning. 

Some of them are sweet and other ones are probably more nutritious...

These eggs on toast could be a good example of the sour side of the menu.

La Rioja alavesa made another great stop during our Euskadi immersion. Little villages full of vines, wines and splendid architecture, both contemporary and traditional, almost as a perfect wine pairing.

Good food was also part of that common denominator, of course.

After a much needed glass of "red" water, another meal was officially started.

Dinner was a rather radical departure from our Basque immersion, somehow anticipated by the unusual machines around. This batmobile, manufactured about 25 kilometres from Bologna, was a good example.

I would describe it like a British "back to basics", while incorporating a surprising sense of balance.

My first dish was as primitive as unexpectedly mind blowing: bone marrow galore.
